This page nearly didn’t make it. Last Thursday, while starting the pencils, I spilled water on a full quarter of the page. If I had been drawing on a fresh sheet of paper, that really wouldn’t have been a problem, I could have started over. However, because of this crazy project I’m working on, the comic that was drawn on the other side of the page started to bleed through. More importantly, starting over would have been redrawing that whole comic! The damage to the previous comic was minimal, however, and it didn’t need much touch up if any at all. The real problem was the ink seeping through to the new page and the warping of the paper. I’ve chronicled my process of restoration through photos, which I’ve posted to flickr.
Actually, you likely know this already, because I just shared that in a blog post to this same blog just minutes ago! I’m just being thorough.
Anyway, I’m a little exhausted at this point, and have a lot of commission work to catch up on, so I’m gonna keep this post mercifully short. But, I got some new pens, and they really helped me through this ordeal, and I’m totally looking forward to the next page!
