It’s a really common joke in comics that parents have a sixth sense, a sort of mental telepathy, that tells them when their kids are up to something naughty. In my personal experience as a child (I don’t have children myself yet), and in the stories my father told me of his childhood, I’ve found that at least in my family that sense isn’t always accurate. Sometimes it doesn’t even go off! And, sometimes, when it does, if it’s not a false positive it might be misdirected.
We’re about to find out how good Brenna’s mommy sense is. At least tonight, while her mind is preoccupied with many other things.
I really liked drawing this page. I do feel the inking could be a little more finished looking, but for struggling with my arm and running a little late I’m not going to complain, really.
In the mean time, while I’ve been letting my arm rest, I’ve been reading the Sandman comics, by Neil Gaiman. I really should have read them ages ago, since large swaths of my own mythology is in response to the philosophies presented in his work. But the timing of this is great. When I read one of his books, it spurs me to work on my own comic (an urge I think he’d appreciate, regardless of what he might think of my work itself). And it’s giving me ideas about how to refine the writing of the next 30 pages… We’re about to get a bit more direct about some things, I think.
Anyway, off to start planning the next page!
Enjoy!
